Sunflower Oil
It is often refined to produce a clear odourless oil that is commonly used for culinary purposes as well as an ingredient in skincare products.
There are two types of Sunflower Oil, High Linoleic and High Oleic. High Linoleic Sunflower Oil contains high levels of the omega 6 essential fatty acid, which is important for growth and development. This means it is predominantly polyunsaturated with low saturated fat levels. It is unstable for cooking purposes but makes a great salad dressing or margarine oil.
High Oleic Sunflower Oil makes a great cooking oil because it has a high monounsaturated content with low saturated fat levels, making it a healthy alternative to other refined cooking oils. It has a high smoke point so can be used for frying, cooking, and baking as well as salad dressing and margarine.
As well as food applications, sunflower is also a common ingredient for skincare products. Sunflower Oil is deeply nourishing and conditioning for the skin and it is highly recommended for products designed to treat dry, weathered, aged, and damaged skin because it helps retain moisture to the skin. It is easily absorbed and applied.
